Affordable Health Insurance FAQ's

General Information

What is ACA health insurance?
ACA (Affordable Care Act) health insurance plans meet federal standards for coverage and consumer protections. Plans are available via HealthCare.gov or state Marketplaces.

Who is eligible for a Marketplace plan?
U.S. citizens or legal residents not offered affordable employer coverage. Eligibility depends on income, family size, and residence.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?
Yes, ACA plans must cover pre-existing conditions without charging more or denying coverage.

What does an ACA plan cover?
ACA plans include essential benefits: doctor visits, hospital/emergency care, prescriptions, mental health, preventive care, children’s dental/vision, maternity, and more.

Enrollment & Application

When can I enroll, change, or cancel a Marketplace plan?
You can enroll during Open Enrollment (Nov–Jan) or within 60 days of qualifying life events (marriage, birth/adoption, move, or loss of prior coverage). Contact us if you’d like to change or cancel your plan at any time.

How do I apply for ACA coverage or make updates?
Simply reach out to us—provide your household, income, and existing coverage details, and we’ll assist with your application or any updates.

What documents will I need for enrollment or changes?
Gather Social Security numbers, employment/income info, birthdates, immigration documents (if applicable), and current health coverage details. Contact us if you have questions about submitting these documents or need to update your information.

Coverage, Costs & Savings

What ACA plan “tiers” are available?
Plans include Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Higher tiers mean higher monthly premiums but lower out-of-pocket costs.

What financial help is available?
Many qualify for Premium Tax Credits to reduce monthly premiums, and Cost-Sharing Reductions (for Silver plans) to lower deductibles or copays. Medicaid and CHIP are available for eligible households.

Why choose a Silver plan if I qualify for extra savings?
Cost-Sharing Reductions—which reduce copays, deductibles, and coinsurance—are only available on Silver-tier plans for eligible customers.

How much will my Marketplace plan cost?
Costs vary by plan type, household income, location, age, and tobacco use. Contact us for a personalized quote or to preview available options.

How do I pay my monthly premium?
After enrollment, pay your insurer directly by mail, online, or phone. If you need help or have billing questions, contact us.

How do I report changes to my income, household, or address?
Contact us directly if there are changes. We’ll help you update your information and make sure your plan and financial help remain accurate.

How do I get my tax Form 1095-A?
